Siyanda Bakgatla Platinum Mine (Pty) Ltd (Union Mine) is a PGM Producing Mine located in Swartklip, in the Province of Limpopo, the Republic of South Africa.
In addition to Platinum, the Mine also produce Palladium, Rhodium, Gold, and Chrome. The Mine was jointly acquired from Anglo American Platinum with effect from the 1st of February 2018 by Siyanda Resources and the Bakgatla-Ba-Kgafela.
The Mine employs about c.5200 Full Time Employees and c. 1500 contractors.
We sell our PGM through an Offtake agreement with Anglo American Platinum’s Rustenburg Platinum Mines. Our Chrome is extracted from the tails by our sister company, Masa Chrome.
We strive to Improve our Safety Performance while Reducing Operating Costs in a sustainable manner. We endeavour to double Production Volumes by 2020.

Our sister company, Masa Chrome, extracts chrome from our tailings. We continuously strive to increase throughput and through technological enhancements aim to improve efficiencies in order to unlock further value.
In keeping with our drive to expand production by 2020, we re-opened the 4South decline and embarked on an open-cast development.
